We walked along the waterfront in late autumn, sharing the frustrations of assembling builder groups. We had met countless founders with impressive pitch decks, designers with beautiful dribbble placeholders, and developers with theoretical knowledge of every new framework.
Yet, when it came to shipping product APIs, running user validation loops, or polishing interfaces to production standards, the crowd thinned.
Ambitious talking points were everywhere. Genuine execution consistency was almost non-existent.
We realized that existing networks—Discord servers, Slack groups, and hackathons—prioritized volume. They wanted maximum signups to sell sponsorships or inflate metrics. But volume creates noise, and noise drives the best builders away.
We needed a smaller, manual node. A space focused purely on high-velocity ship cycles, rigorous skill sets, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
That conversation developed into FWB — Friends With Builders.
